WATER COLORS

The freedom of watercolor permits spontaneity and immediate reaction to the paint allowing experimentation that is vital to growth and is a never ending challenge. The different styles I use seem to increase the vitality and immediacy, preventing an artistic rut.

I have been practicing art for over thirty years, twenty-five years as a sculptor. I became involved with water media and collage in 2000 and initially employed subdued colors exploring landscapes and animal forms. My work progressed and currently I paint in several techniques depending on the subject matter and the message I want to convey to the viewer either employing vibrantly colored pours, transparent watercolor and charcoal, airbrush, or acrylic with collage. --TM
