Sandra Ellston
FOUR PHOTOGRAPHS

In photography, as in literature, I am less interested in representation than I am in form. My camera is drawn to the unusual, to the grand and the miniature, to the stark and the textured, to the seemingly empty space replete with fullness. I love simplicity in image and the juxtaposition of strong line and color. My gallery is nature, and all my photographs comprise a love song to Oregon.

My photographs are companions to my work in "Cosmic Outlaw," a collection of poems about living in the natural history of the Pacific Northwest. Both have been exhibited at the annual show, "Les Voix des Femmes," at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon, where I am former dean of Arts and Sciences and Professor.
